Interactive teaching methods double learning in undergraduate physics class

Interactive teaching methods double learning in undergraduate physics class:

I like this study because it highlights the ongoing work we have been doing in LD3. The access strategies are mentioned in this excerpt from the whole article:

"During the experimental week, Deslauriers and Schelew gave no formal lecturing but guided students through a series of activities that had previously been shown to enhance learning, such as paired and small-group discussions and active learning tasks, which included the use of remote-control 'clickers' to provide feedback for in-class questions. Pre-class reading assignments and quizzes were also given to ensure students were prepared to discuss course material upon arrival in class"

Summer 2011 Professional Development

With summer fast approaching, I know we are all thinking how we can improve teaching practice.  To help reach those goals, LAUSD is offering "Effective Practices" professional developments this summer.  Stay tuned for more detailed information about these PDs.

Also, the SB472 professional developments are being offered for the last time.  There is a K-5 institute for enVisionMATH as well as a secondary institute for grade 6-Algebra 1.  Both of these institutes have received good reviews from teachers who have attended and both are an excellent opportunity!
